October 21, 2014, Beijing – CBRE Group, Inc. today announced that Richard Kirke has been appointed to a newly created role as Managing Director, Capital Markets, Asia Pacific.
In this role, Mr Kirke will be responsible for CBRE’s APAC Capital Markets, Capital Advisors and Hotels businesses. He will commence with CBRE in Q1, 2015, based in Hong Kong.
Rob Blain, Executive Chairman, CBRE Asia Pacific, said Mr Kirke’s appointment followed an extensive search for a team leader with outstanding management capabilities and a demonstrated track record of driving collaboration, combined with extensive real estate expertise.
“Capital Markets is a central linchpin of both our global and APAC service offerings, and a key part of our growth strategy in the region is to build strong leadership across business lines,” Mr Blain said.
“In recognition of this, we have created this important new role to drive our APAC Capital Markets business and strengthen our position as the undisputed market leader in all the key markets in which we operate.”
“Richard holds a strong reputation in the marketplace, built through performance, peer respect and credibility,” said Chris Ludeman, Global President, CBRE Capital Markets.
“He recognizes the value of unleashing the platform to create superior client outcomes. He will focus on creating best practices and premier services to drive our Capital Markets strategy in Asia Pacific and ensure we are providing the highest level of service and support to our clients throughout the region.”
Mr Kirke has extensive Capital Markets and leadership experience and was most recently Managing Director of Colliers in Hong Kong.
Mr Kirke entered the real estate field in 2004 following a long and successful Rugby Union career in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
He commenced his career at CBRE in New Zealand, where he held a variety of roles, including Managing Director of CBRE’s North Shore Auckland office. In 2009 he was appointed as Managing Director of Colliers in Hong Kong and he has since been responsible for significant achievements such as the 2012 sale for US$632 million of the newly-built and partially-let 50 Connaught Road to Agricultural Bank of China.
